What are your lead times?

We devote a lot of time to make sure that your cake not only looks incredible, but also tastes delicious. With this in mind, we are only able to take on a limited number of bookings per month and we do get booked up extremely quickly. Therefore we kindly request a minimum of three months notice for wedding cakes, and one month’s notice for celebration cakes. Having said that, depending on our schedule, sometimes late bookings can be accommodated, so please feel free to ask.

Do you provide consultations?

Yes, and would highly recommend this for wedding cake orders. However, if you would prefer to discuss your cake order via email or telephone, I would be more than happy to help. If you can provide me with the date that your cake is needed, your venue details, the number of people you would like to feed with the cake, and the kind of style you have in mind, this will help me put together some design ideas for you.

Do you provide tasters?

Absolutely. I am proud of that fact that my cakes are not just style over substance, so they are well worth tasting. Tasting consultations are available for wedding cake orders and celebration cake orders over £500. There will be a small charge of £30 which will be deducted from the price of your cake once you place your order.

What are my payment options?

We require a non-refundable 50% deposit to confirm your order. You will then be provided with a confirmation letter setting out all the details of your cake. The balance is due one month prior to delivery or collection of your cake. We are happy to accept either cash, cheques (payable to Sherry Hostler, at 65 Christchurch Road, Tring, Hertfordshire, HP23 4EL) or BACS transfers (details on request).

Do you deliver cakes?

We will personally deliver your cake if requested, and delivery charges are quoted at the time of order. Delivery is available throughout London and the UK. Our delivery service includes liaison with the event planner at your venue, or your personal wedding planner. It also includes assembly of the cake at your venue.

Do you make fake tiers?

Most definitely. Fake tiers are a great way of adding height to a cake without wasting cake! Please be aware that this does not necessarily mean they will be any cheaper than a tier made from real cake though, as it takes the same amount of time to decorate a fake tier as it does a real one.

Do you make cakes for special dietary requirements?

Our moist carrot cake is dairy free, as it has a sunflower oil base. We can offer all flavours as gluten free options, although please be aware that cakes are not baked in a gluten free kitchen. All cakes are alcohol free other than the Pink Champagne and the fruit cake. All cakes are nut free other than coffee & walnut and the fruit cake.

How do I store my cake?

Please make sure that it is in a cool room, away from direct sunlight. Do NOT store it in a fridge.

What if I need to cancel my order?

If production of your cake has commenced, you may be charged for any elements which have already been made. I’m afraid that deposits are non-refundable due to the fact that I will not have taken on any other commissions once your cake has been booked into my diary.

Can I make alterations to my cake?

Alterations can be made to your order no later than one month prior to collection/delivery. If the alteration affects the overall cost then your balance will be adjusted accordingly.

I’ve seen a photo of a cake that I want, will you copy it for me?

I’m afraid not, as I know how much work goes into the design and creation of a cake. However, I am more than happy to take elements of an array of different designs that you like and create something that is more unique to you.

Can I collect my cake?

Absolutely. We can arrange a mutually convenient time for you to collect your cake from our Buckinghamshire base. The cake will be carefully boxed and you will be given storage and assembly instructions. Please be aware that we cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur once the cake has left our premises.
